Actually Cory, I started thinking this at some point in the last two days, as well, and I don't think it is far-fetched at all. Terrifying, but not far-fetched.

Check out the military parade for Sadat. I doubt that will happen here but at this point nothing is beyond belief.

As he did with the soldiers at Fort Bragg this week, he also had the parade soldiers screened for loyal, non-fat supporters.

Trump is shallow, vain and impatient with Dory's attention span. This chilling thought is far too sophisticated and thoughtful for him. Now the ghouls behind Project 2025? This reads like it is straight out of their playbook.

I agree with you 1000% that he is not intelligent enough to pull this off, but keep in mind he’s not actually the one pulling the strings. Everything “he” has done so far has been straight out of the project 2025 playbook. He’s just the puppet, the façade, the smoke and mirrors or even the distraction! 😳

There is a difference between moving tanks and APC and moving troops, weapons, ammo, food, housing, WATER that go into that type of operation. To try and secretly move all that "stuff" and either not be seen or not have someone involved leak info (that's the great thing about Trump: so many people love him, but so many MORE people despise him) that would expose the entire shit show.

Unfortunately, this is nothing more than an incompetent, thin-skinned man babies need for affirmation and bragging rights. The GOP and MAGAts will have a new memory for their spank bank, DC will have chewed up roads, ruptured water and sewage lines, possibly a ruptured gas main, and a lot of trash to clean up, nothing else.

Sadly, we will have to live with the embarrassment of this ignominious farce forever. Just one more Trump butt-plug involuntarily shoved up the ass of our democracy, all for one idiot!

Pray for rain! Pray that Tulsi Gabbard's premonition for nuclear war comes to fruition before Saturday, or better yet, during the parade.

It’s just too overdone, seeing all the rail cars with those tanks. I sense, too, that something is up. Someone mentioned last week that there was a rumor in the Whitehouse about Trump “selling Washington” to Palantir to be created into one of Thiel’s high-tech fortune cities. If that is the case, then the presence of the tanks enough to surround Washington or at least around the perimeter of the main federal buildings, over which Musk has created a Starlink golden crown of protection. Sounds crazy but anything goes. The Christian Nationalists and Tech Bros will run the government then, with Thiel as President. That was always the plan anyway. I suspect Trump is setting it up so he can leave, and leave it to them who have already placed their people in key places throughout the government.

The other question this brings up is if Israel is now about to bomb Iran, what was the plan to protect D.C. in the event of American involvement?

Also, with Trump threatening “a great force” on the protesters on the 14th, and with their locations public, is he planning to cause problems but will be protected from recourse?

20,000 military being called in to D.C., i assume many will man the tanks in the parade or if need for security around the new city. They had been discussing names for the city.

We shall see what’s up their sleeves. No one in D.C. has any knowledge of the plan for the “celebration.”

It all sounds so ominous.

These kinds of thoughts have crossed my mind as well. The shield image, of course. The show of force. But it also crossed my mind that those forces could also be turned the opposite direction. He brings them in, but they could just as easily be commanded to point in his direction. It could go either way. It depends upon the assembled forces and the allegiance they have to their Constitution, their pledge, and to freedom.

I do not plan on watching how it turns out. There is a demonstration near my home and, if I get out at all, I shall be there.

He may do any or all of those things, but remember this: he can't stay in his bunker forever. He has to come out sometime, and if he's already deployed lots of troops around the country, his praetorian guard won't be able to cope with the massive numbers of people defying his edicts. And the troops that are already deployed are mostly idle, bored, and disillusioned. They can see up close and personal just how unnecessary they are. Trump is all hat and no cattle. Don't let the smoke and mirrors obscure your view.

Republican congress members have been supporting all of his illegal, devisive, destructive acts and now all of a sudden they are uncomfortable with his parade?

My spidey senses have been screaming this for weeks. Republicans in both Houses are skipping the parade. Are they effing kidding us? They know what’s hiding behind the curtain. Plus, Democratic Governors are in DC testifying about the national guard and marines being deployed.

Something big and bad is about to happen. It may be this weekend, it may be down the road. Like you, Cory, I hope that I’m wrong. May all that’s sacred and holy protect us.

I think you are entirely correct CK. The Heritage Foundation incubated Project 2025 and now they are hatching it. Trump is the 'Useful Idiot' who will somehow be 'retired', Vance, Peter Thiel's acolyte will be sworn in to maintain a semblance of legitimacy and demonstrate 'continuity' with the Constitution. Marshall law will be declared and a massive clamp down on dissent, previously lawful opposition and lawful assembly will ensue. Unless, and it needs to happen immediately, Republican dissenters, military leaders loyal to the Constitution and the millions of citizens opposed to Trump, mobilise to remove him, Vance and the kleptocrats, the USA as we know it, disapears. Putin is loving it. I seriously wonder how we in UK, in Europe, Australia and particularly, Canada are going to react and respond.

Thanks for mentioning https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Heritage_Foundation

The Heritage Foundation has been brewing a plan for the past 50+ years and brought Reaganomics into the long game.

Charles Koch’s stink tanks have also been instrumental in promoting neoliberalism, tax cuts for the wealthy, eliminating support for the poor and working classes, increased spending for defense contractors, suppressing Labor unions, etc.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Koch

Koch’s Americans for Prosperity promotes prosperity for the ultra-wealthy.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americans_for_Prosperity

The American Enterprise Institute is ten decades old and has opposed the FDR New Deal and related programs since their inception. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Enterprise_Institute

Since at least 1944, the DNC has been no friend to Labor, either. The DNC and RNC/GOP are branches of the same Capitalist Party that supports socialism for the wealthy, Wall Street and private corporations.

Neither the RNC nor DNC, with the exception of some Progressives, have been willing to call out the fact that the USA is experiencing a coup by agents of the “haves” against the “have nots” and against the US Constitution and system of government.

The Trump posse is testing the limits of its power and has been successful in strengthening and stretching its reach. They are not the root cause of problems that will not be eliminated even if their coup fails to succeed.

🇨🇦here. Wake. The. Fuck. Up. You are in the middle of a coup d'etat.

Soldiers deployed in LA. Multiple breaches of your constitution.

Courts scrambling to keep up with the avalanche of cases brought about illegal behaviour.

A supreme court with no wherewithal, or GUTS to enforce its rulings against deporting people to off shore concentration camps.

A do nothing Congress.

A rubber-stamp Senate.

And, a gathering of soldiers and tanks and other weaponry in your country's capital. For a *parade*?

I think he's a 4 year old who wants a shiny parade because the Other Kids get one. There is not enough standing military for all of us, and the ones that are serving have families. I'm not trying to downplay this- because I think your concerns are valid and frighteningly possible. But my one comfort in this whole mess is how grossly incompetent they are, and how they've fired anyone who might actually know how to do this.

As a Brit, I did consider the possibility but decided it could not be used to take control. Putting a lot of tanks and weapons in Washington would not help take control of the USA unless all elected representatives are there to be arrested at gunpoint. Your country's educated populace is too numerous to install a dictatorship.
